Uppity Women of the Bible: Song of Songs NEW
Explore the mysterious, beautiful, and alluring Song of Songs (“Song of Solomon”) in this six-session Bible Study led by the Rev. Dr. Lisa M. Wolfe. She will guide you and your adult Bible Study group through some of the Song’s dilemmas and some of the scholars’ answers. You’ll catch Dr. Wolfe laughing, blushing, and furrowing her brow—you may end up doing the same! Having received plenty of investigative tools for studying this book, you’ll enjoy the adventure of reading and re-reading this intriguing poetry. At the end of each session, you will find engaging discussion questions to further your group’s learning.
Uppity Women of the Bible: Ruth
In six engaging sessions of 10-15 minutes each, Rev. Dr. Lisa Wolfe walks Bible Study groups through the book of Ruth. From explaining the vulnerability of widows in biblical times to asking what you think happened on the threshing floor, Dr. Wolfe presents just what your group needs for lively, thoughtful Bible study. Combining humor and careful scholarship, Uppity Women of the Bible: Ruth invites people of faith to go back and read this biblical book with new interest and insight. Designed for adult Bible study groups meeting in homes or houses of worship, each session ends with discussion questions so that a group—with or without a Bible Study leader—can understand, debate and further explore the issues raised.
Testimonials:
"Refreshing, engaging, humorous, and substantive, Lisa Wolfe presents the book of Ruth in unforgettable ways. The six brief sessions of ten to fifteen minutes each will delight Sunday school classes and other adult education venues. Wolfe's lively and candid presentations combine informed biblical scholarship with a capacity to draw people into the text. This is the kind of biblical study we need."

"The project works well, in a unified, rational way that approaches the Book of Ruth from the presenter’s own scholarly point of view, yet is interesting (often actually downright entertaining) and easy to follow. The viewer who finishes the series is certainly going to come away better informed, but perhaps even more important will have been exposed to how fascinating serious Old Testament study can be. I should think most viewers will come away wanting more. I also found myself really looking forward to seeing the future courses in this series that Dr. Wolfe intends to produce.
This course offers features I haven’t seen in any other video presentation, the most striking of which is simply Lisa Wolfe herself, in action. Her self-introduction is not only informative but also extremely engaging. Throughout the series one finds oneself not just listening to a highly competent scholar and educator, but, perhaps just as important, a person who finds something like interpreting ancient Hebrew proper names a fascinating and delightful undertaking. She takes on some really difficult issues, comes up with suggestions really worth listening to, and enjoys every moment of it. And I’m pretty sure that enjoyment will be catching.

"I just previewed both DVDs and they are wonderful!!! Can we just clone you and put you in every seminary in the U.S.? I am sure everyone who listens to one of your lectures learns so much. I know I did!"
